The historic 8h of Spa Francorchamps is taking place on the historic Belgian circuit.
Randy Krummenacher, representative of the French Team Tati Ava6, was unable to take part in the race due to an injury sustained on Thursday. In the second test session, in fact, the Swiss rider was the victim of a strong hig-side. Due to the adverse weather, Krummenacher had taken to the track with slick tires when it started to rain and on turn 10 he fell at a speed of 160 km/h.
Transported to the nearest hospital, he underwent the necessary checks and reported a fracture to the fifth dorsal vertebra with a current prognosis of one month, to be reassessed in the coming weeks.
Krummenacher has however decided not to abandon the circuit and to remain in support of his Team and his teammates.
The Tati Ava6 Racing Team, had arrived at Spa initially fielding Randy Krummenacher, Hugo Clere and John Mcphee, the latter replacing Martin Renaudin, injured during the last FSBK race weekend.
Charlie Nesbitt, Mcphee's teammate in BSB, then took over from Krummenacher.
Krummenacher, disappointed but confident, declares:
"It's a very tough weekend for me, I was here with all my family to support me and I wanted to give the best of myself. Unfortunately, the unexpected happened to me and I think that in bad times I was lucky. I fell exiting turn 10, a fast section, and I could have suffered much more serious consequences. As soon as we return to Italy I will undergo further tests to verify the extent of the damage, proceed with the therapies to get back on track as soon as possible. Together with my wife Serena, we have prepared all the material for the Suzuka race because I really hope to be able to get back in shape and take part in the third round of the EWC in Japan. It's sad to leave Spa like this, especially because Le Mans was not a lucky race either with the engine failure that forced us to retire after a very good qualifying and a start from the third position on the grid. However, I always try to see the positive side and I'm sure that after the difficult times, better times will come.
I want to thank all the people who have been close to me, obviously my family, my sponsors and those who, even just with a message, have worried about me. I hope to update everyone soon with good news."
